Updating reminder schedules and custom reminder messages

Learn how to update reminder schedules and add custom messages to reminder emails for both templates and requests already sent.

You can change when reminders go out and add your own custom message to each reminder email. Where you make the change depends on whether you've already sent the request.

For requests not yet sent, update the template the request is created from.

For requests already sent, reset the reminders from your Dashboard.

Editing a template only affects requests created from it afterwards. Requests already sent keep their existing schedule until you reset their reminders.

Editing a template (before sending)

Use this method to set the reminder schedule and custom messages for any future requests created from a template.

Please note: Only account administrators can update an account-wide template.

Go to Account settings.

Select Advanced options, then Manage templates.

Find the template you want to update, and click the pencil icon to edit.

Click through to the reminder section and make sure Advanced reminders is selected.

Update your reminder schedule, if required. You can add, remove or edit reminders.

To update or add custom notification messages, next to each reminder, select Edit custom message, and enter the additional text you want added to that specific email notification.

Each reminder has its own custom message, so repeat this for every reminder you want to include a custom message.

Finally, click Save to update the template.

Updating reminders on requests already sent

Use this method to change the reminder schedule and custom messages for requests your clients have already received.

Go to your Dashboard and select the required view.

Use the Filter to select the requests you want to update.

Select the tick box at the very top of the list to select all filtered requests; alternatively, select the individual requests that you want to update.

Click Action, then Reset reminders.

Important: Resetting reminders replaces the existing schedule rather than adding to it. If you want to keep any current reminders or custom messages, make a note of them before clicking Reset reminders. You’ll need to set up the full schedule and add every custom message again, as the previous reminders will no longer apply.

Set your new reminder schedule.

Select Edit custom message next to each reminder to enter your custom text, repeating this for every reminder.

Good to know

  1. Custom messages appear in addition to the standard reminder email content, so keep them short and specific.

  2. Use your Dashboard filters to update a batch of requests at once, for example, all requests for a particular service or deadline.
