After installing Desktop Connect you will notice that if you click on a Microsoft Word or Excel document you now have the option to open the file using the relevant Office application.
All other file types will also open using their native application; providing that that application is installed on your computer.
Click 'Open in xxxx'.
You now have the option to either 'Edit file' or 'Open as read only'. Click on 'Edit file' and the file will open in its relevant application. If you click Save in your application a new version of the file will be saved and updated directly into your Glasscubes account.
After you have finished editing the file, click the 'Unlock file' button so that other users can access and edit the file. If you don’t unlock the file other users that try to access it will be informed that it's locked for edit by you.
After you install Desktop Connect you will automatically receive desktop notifications, which appear as a pop up in the bottom right hand corner of you screen, regardless of whether you are logged into Glasscubes or not. If you click on the link that they contain, you will be directed to the item in Glasscubes.
If you have installed the PC version of Desktop Connect you will see an icon appear in your Windows navigation bar.
The number displayed in the center on the Desktop Connect icon denotes the number of unread notifications you have. This is the same as the number that is displayed on your notification icon in your account.
To view recent notifications click on the Desktop Connect icon, highlighted above.
From here you have the option of logging straight into your account by clicking the 'My Account' link.
