Restarting Desktop Connect

This is the first thing to try when troubleshooting an issue with Desktop Connect

Updated over a week ago

On occasion Desktop Connect may stop running, this can happen if your internet service is disrupted.

How do you know if Desktop Connect has stopped running? In this example we are editing a Microsoft Word document. If Desktop Connect is running the menu will say 'Open and edit this file on your desktop', as shown above.

If Desktop Connect isn't running the menu will ask you whether you want to install it, even though it's already installed. In that case you need to restart the application.

To do that right hand click on its icon, which you will find on the right hand side of your Windows bottom navigation bar.

Click 'Exit' to close the application and the icon will disappear.

Now click the Windows icon on the left hand side of your Windows bottom navigation bar to launch the Windows start menu.

Type Desktop Connect and it will appear at the top of your start menu. Double click 'Desktop Connect' and the application will start and the icon will reappear on the right hand side of your Windows bottom navigation bar.

Desktop Connect should now operate again.
